Rockettes Unveil New Tap Number 'Ring' for Holiday Show
The Radio City Rockettes are adding a new tap number called "Ring" to this year's Christmas Spectacular, which opened Wednesday at Radio City Music Hall in New York. BroadwayWorld described it as the troupe's first new tap number in 20 years.
"Ring" puts a new spin on the Christmas classic "Carol of the Bells," ABC7 New York reported. The number mixes contemporary tap choreography with the familiar holiday melody. BroadwayWorld said it was co-choreographed by Chloe Arnold and Julie Branam.
The number brings the show's total to ten showstopping Rockettes numbers, the most in its history, according to BroadwayWorld. The production also uses multiple on-stage cameras to cover each number from angles such as a bird's-eye view, the wings and the back of the stage. The feeds appear in real time on screens beside the stage.
The 2026 "Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes" opens Nov. 4 and runs through Jan. 4, BroadwayWorld reported. A report from NBC Palm Springs described it as the show's 101st edition, though I could not open that page to confirm.
The Rockettes have long been known for precision kick lines, and tap has not been a regular feature of the show's new numbers in recent years, according to BroadwayWorld's description of "Ring" as the first in two decades. The number is aimed at audiences who return every year and want something new alongside the classics.
Tickets and showtimes are available through the Radio City Music Hall and Rockettes websites. Neither source I read gave ticket prices.
